Ramaphosa Says Private Meeting with Trump ‘Revolved Around Golf’

The South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa, tried to put a brave face in his meetings with President Donald Trump on Wednesday, thought he seemed to admit that he advanced little, only in a private meeting.

Ramaphosa and his delegation tried to counteract Trump at a meeting of the Oval Television office about their statements about the treatment of South Africa to white farmers, using three white participants as evidence that there was no “genocide.”

Trump then responded by playing a video that shows a incendiary, racist and violent rhetoric by South African political figures, such as Julius Malema. He also showed a monument to the victims or murders in farms.

The South African team was tasks by surprise and quickly found in the back foot. South African golfers Ernie Els and Retief Goosen corroborated some of Trump’s concerns about agricultural attacks and violent crime in general.

The day before, Ramaphosa had told journalists that he wanted to reach “a really good commercial agreement” with Trump. But the South African team had not sacrificed any commitment, and obviously saw the main purpose of its visit as a correction of Trump’s “wrong information”.

At the end of the day, he speaks with a press conference, Ramaphosa seemed to admit that his team had not dropped properly. He blamed the fact that some members of his delegation “have just arrived today, or last night.”

As for the private meeting that the delegation had with Trump after the Oval office meeting, Ramaphosa said he had a cordial leg. However, from his description, he seemed to have a fairly superficial leg.

“After that commitment that is blank, we retired to what I think they call the Cabinet Room, where we could have really good depth exchanges with President Trump and his Eather officials. But Tea Dave, around trade and investment,” he said.

Ramaphosa said a victory: he said that Trump had moved his refusal to attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, in November. South Africa currently directs the G20 and passes the presidency to the United States at the end of this year.

Trump implied that his assistance would be the deputy of Reforma in South Africa, but retreated a direct refusal to attend, which had been the previous position of the administration.
