French Actor Gerard Depardieu Found Guilty in Sexual Assault Trial

The legend of the French screen Gerard Depardieu was declared guilty on Tuesday for a position to sexual two women in a 2021 film.

They gave him a 18 -month suspended prison sentence at the end of a trial in Paris and duly registered in the registry of national sexual criminals.

The actor’s lawyer confirmed an appeal against the conviction.

Depardieu, 76, who has made more than 200 films and television series, was accused by the two women of the work in a film. Depardieu denied each and every one of the accusations against him, as Breitbart News reported.

The Paris Court found that one of the accusers, a written designer called Amélie, had consistent evidence, while the actor’s accounts had changed over time. He has also condemned or assaulted a deputy director named Sarah.

Depardieu was not present to listen to the verdict, but was working on a film set in the Azores.

This was the first trial of Depardieu for positions of sexual assault.

The actor is completely provided with assault or behavior inappropriate by 20 other women with individual dates of judgment that are still established.

The BBC reports at the end of the trial in the French capital at the end of March, prosecutor Laurent Guy said: “It is perfectly possible to be an excellent actor and a great father, and still commit a crime.

“You are not here to judge French cinema. You are here to judge Gérard Depardieu, as you would do with another citizen.”

The prosecutor had requested a suspended prison sentence of 18 months, as well as a fine of £ 16,850 and registration in the list of sexual fodizers.

Claude Vincent, who represents one of the two women’s plaintiffs, described Depardieu as a “misogynist” and a “case study in sexism.” The BBC report indicates the actor’s statement of innocence:

Depardieu denied the accusations, saying only that he could have touched women accidentally or maintain balance.

At the end of the audiences, Depardieu said: “My name has dragged the bones through the mud for lies and insults.

“A trial can be a very special experience for an actor. Seeing all this anger, the police, the press. It’s like being in a science fiction film, except that it is not science fiction. It is life.”

Depardieu said he had not worked as an actor for three years, since the sexual accusations against him began to circulate.

It is the highest profile figure to face accusations in the response of French cinema to the #Metoo Movement.

Brigitte Bardot previously defended Depardieu and another accused French actor saying that they should be allowed to “move forward with their lives.”
