Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world, illuminated in the stars and stripes of the US flag to honor the visit of US President Donald Trump to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.
Trump is not the first president of the United States to visit the EAU, an honor that belongs to President George W. Bush, but his visit could be the most consistent, and it is also likely that the Emiratis will be more greeted.
While Bush visited in 2008, when leaving the office and with the Iraq war near his sausage, Trump’s visit reaches the beginning of his second term, with the hope of peace and expanded trade in the Middle East.
In his first term, Trump worked closely with the EAU to prepare Abraham’s agreements, a peace agreement between the Emirates and Israel that soon included Bahrain and expanded rapidly to other Arab and Muslim states.
No new Arab or Muslim state joined the duration of the agreements for the presidency of Joe Biden, but Trump, who has already visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar on this visit to the region, promises to resume where he left it.
Dubai is crucial for Trump’s vision of a “Middle East – Europe Economic Economic Corridor” (IMEC) commercial route.
