“It was amazing,” admits his great rival, McKoy.
“We just look at each other [while waiting for the next heat] And said ‘Ok, we know who will win. Who will get money? “
But Jackson admits “not preparation at all” for the second round.
“It was just the second round,” says Jackson. “Everyone has what I can do so that it can be stretched. Let me stretch a little and simply run.”
His coach Arnold warned him about the consequences.
Jackson finished second in a messy race, but, after hitting the fifth obstacle, his oblique muscle ripped down on his left side, a crucial musculus to lift his leg to hinder.
It was expensive and could only end seventh in the final.
“You accept it if everything is better than you,” says Jackson. “But I was the best.
“You cannot understand the depth of the depression in which you enter.
“It’s all in your life, everything. You realize that you never have this time. You go from hero to zero in the blink of an eye.
“He took a whole year to disappear.”
