The triple formula 1 heading, which took the grid from Italy to Monaco and finally Barcelona, was not a child to Mercedes.
They entered the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna sitting secondly in the classification of the F1 Construction Championship, only behind McLaren, thanks to a strong beginning of the season of George Russell and a promising beginning to Kimi Antonelli F1’s career. But the team counted only 18 points on the triple header, since Antonelli was a hero without a point over the three races.
Now Mercedes is looking to restart after a “challenging” trio of races at this week’s Canadian Grand Prix.
“We are eager to return to the track in Montreal after a challenging triple header,” said team director Toto Wolff, in the previous view of the Canada Grand Prix team. “We show an improved performance in Barcelona and that is something we must build. However, we know that we must be more consistent and continually progress with the W16, if we want to rediscover part of our form from the beginning of the season.”
Wolff also paid tribute to the host city, while pointing out the team’s success in Montreal a season ago. Russell took pole position, publishing exactly the same time that Max Verstappen in the third quarter. With Russell publishing the first time, said the pole position for the Grand Prix.
“We enjoy a strong race here in 2024, and I hope we can repeat that level of action this time. The circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a great track with its combination of low -speed corners and long straight straight or quotes and theater’s Threal. Create a bright atmosphere,” Wolff added.
This week also sees the return of the F1 Academy, with the pilot of Mercedes Doriane Pin with the aim of climbing to the top of the classification of the drivers of the F1 Academy. Thanks in part to a victory in the second race in the China Grand Prix, Pin enters this race in second place in the classification, only one Beind Maya Weug point.
“We are eager to see Doriane run once again when the F1 Academy returns to action,” Wolff added. “She has drawn in some strong performances so far this year and we will support her while seeking to challenge the leadership of the championship in Canada.”
The Canada Grand Prix begins Friday with two hours of practice before the important classification session on Saturday.
