Higher output in Assam Valley lifts India’s tea production up by 2% at 65.14 m kg in March

Indian tea production increased by 2 percent. As the month of March 2025 passed, mainly in increasing production in Assam, the largest producer.

According to the latest statistics of the Tea Board, the march of the entire Indian of India increased to 65.14 million kgs, compared to 63.78 m kg in the same period last year.

In Assam Valley, the duration of the departure of March 2025, 33 percent more than 26.66 million kg (20.10 m kg in March 2024), while Cachar fell to 0.86 m kg (1.35 m kg). The total production in Assam was 27.52 m kg, 28 percent more than the corresponding previous years 21.45 m kg.

However, in Western Bengal, production decreased by around 15 percent to 20.51 m kg (24.12 m kg). In Dooars, tea production decreased by 19 percent to 9.28 m kg (11.49 m kg), while in the car increased marginally to 0.10 m kg (0.08 m kg).

In northern India, the duration of tea production, 5.39 percent higher than last year was 49.43 m kg (46.90 m kg).

However, in southern India, production decreased by 7 percent to 15.71 m kg (16.88 m kg). In Tamil Nadu, production decreased by around 8 percent to 11.01 m kg (11.95 m kg), while in kerala production decreased by 5 percent to 4.32 m kg (4.55 m kg). In Karnataka, the production was flat at 0.38 m kg.

Tea production by large producers increased by 6.3 percent to 26.29 m kg, while the production of small producers was marginally reduced to 38.85 m kg (39.04 m kg). The CTC tea production was 56.64 m kg, while orthodox tea production was 7.73 m kg and green tea production stood at 0.77 m kg.

Duration January 2025, the production of tea all India stood at 107.92 m kg. This includes production or 60.44 m kg in northern India and 47.48 m kg in southern India.
