Indigenous HPV tests to strengthen cervical cancer screening launched

Jitendra Singh, Minister of Status of Science and Technology of the Union, officially launched the HPV test kits indigenous developed for the cervical cancer exam in a high profile event in Delhi on Thursday. The launch marks the culmination of the National Program entitled “Validation of the Indigenous Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) for the Cervical Cancer Singing in India”, a strategic initiative backed by GCI-Birac-DBT.

As part of the program, two HPV test kits developed by MyLab Discovery Solutions and Molbio Diagnostics were validated through multicenter clinical studies carried out among the main research institutions in India. The initiative aims to create profitable, precise and accessible diagnostic solutions adapted to the public health needs of India.

The kit stood out for its integration of automation and ease of use in a decentralized environment.
